Idaho Power was established in 1916 and is an electric utility engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, sale and purchase of electric energy. It is a subsidiary of IDACORP, Inc. Idaho Power employs approximately 2,000 people to serve a 24,000 square-mile service area in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. With 17 low-cost hydroelectric projects as the core of its generation portfolio, Idaho Power’s 492,000 residential, business and agricultural customers pay some of the nation’s lowest prices for electricity.

Idaho Power obtains energy from a diverse set of generation resources, long-term power purchase agreements, and short-term market purchases. The estimated fuel mix for Idaho Power's resource portfolio (2014) is: 43% hydropower, 8% Natural Gas, 11% Wind, 35% Coal, & 3% Geothermal & Other.
