Healthcare is a cornerstone and fast-growing segment of the Boise Valley economy. Yet, like so many things in the Boise Valley, you don't need to wait in a long line to enjoy it.
The area is served by four full-service, acute-care hospitals offering the most advanced medical technology available, all of which have extensive outreach programs and auxiliary facilities. Of these, two are full-service general hospitals that are part of regional medical centers based in Boise.
St. Luke’s Health System is the state's largest employer (8,000 employees) and also the home of the renowned Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI). Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, which recently added a state-of-the-art, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to its Boise facility; and Also located in Boise are the Idaho Elk’s Rehabilitation Hospital and the Intermountain Hospital of Boise.
Twenty minutes outside of Boise, in the city of Caldwell is West Valley Medical Center, a full-service, acute-care medical centers. Saltzer Medical Group, with locations in Nampa, Meridian and Caldwell, is the largest multi-specialty group in the state.
