United Heritage to Expand Meridian Presence, Build New Office Space

United Heritage Insurance will build a new solar-powered building in Meridian.

The 20,000-square-foot building will be built next to the company’s 43,000-square-foot company headquarters in Meridian’s Central Valley Corporate Park near the Meridian exit off Interstate 84.  The two-story building will take about a year to build at a cost of $4 million, said United Heritage Insurance CEO Dennis Johnson.

Solar panels will be installed on the roof to generate 20 percent of the building’s electrical power. High-efficiency lighting, Low-E energy windows and an upgraded heating and cooling system are also slated. Electric vehicle charging stations will be constructed dependent on demand, Johnson said. BRS is the architect and CM Company is the general contractor on the project.

“We wanted to be energy-efficient and this helps keep costs down as well,” Johnson said.

United Heritage will occupy about half of the new building, with remaining space available for lease. The entire business park is 7.5 acres, which is owned by the company.  One hundred thirty people work in Meridian’s office, which was built in 2001.
