Mission Aviation Fellowship Picks Nampa for New Headquarters
In September 2006, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) dedicated its new training and mobilization headquarters in Nampa, Idaho. MAF moved from Redlands, California, because of the Boise Valley’s lower cost of living and operating costs. Other factors influencing the relocation to Nampa included excellent terrain to facilitate pilot training and the number of strong MAF supporters living in this area.
Kevin Swanson, MAF president, said, “This relocation has been the single largest project in our 60-year history, and we are excited to call Nampa our new home. The expanded training and support facility has given us room to grow as we prepare to station new missionaries and to support MAF families already serving.” The new headquarters consists of a 35,500 square-foot administration building and a 23,000-square-foot hanger.
Founded in 1945, MAF stations about 200 missionary families in the remotest regions of 23 countries on five continents. MFA pilots fly approximately 40,000 flights a year transporting missionaries, medical personnel, medicines, and relief supplies, as well as conducting thousands of emergency medical evacuations.
